GODLESS

RELEASED THEATRICALLY 2024

Starring: HARRY LENNIX & ANA ORTIZ

Godless is about a crisis of faith.  The crisis of faith that a politician endures when her religious beliefs contrast with her ambitions. When a man of God will guide the faithful not by example but from example.

Governor Andrea Porra just signed the first gay marriage law in New York’s  history. To her, the fact that she is a practicing Catholic is irrelevant; the times are changing and this is what the people want. With her sights on the White House, she’s  shrewdly pledged her support to a late term abortion bill creeping through the legislature. However, she knows she will never have to sign it...it doesn't have the votes.

Bishop Reginald Roland was just appointed Bishop of Andrea’s Brooklyn parish and he has a message for her – that Hell is a reality. By signing into law the gay marriage bill you ceased living as a Catholic. You’re excommunicated! Reginald has anointed himself as a religious crusader; blind that the sins he's denounced Andrea for compare to his own. His arrogance has caused a backlash by the younger generation. They are the future of the Church and now the gap is beyond repair

Soon Reginald and Andrea are at the forefront of a battle between Church and State. As the nation watches, Andrea finds that her polling numbers are dwindling. Her party is worried that without a resounding victory in her upcoming Gubernatorial primary and re-election, she has no hope of becoming, not only the first female but also the first Latino president. Now that her excommunication has drawn unwanted attention to her states abortion bill and it may actually pass, Andrea realizes that her faith holds her as accountable as her constituents.

Ultimately, Andrea and Reginald come to terms with their decisions, their reasons and now their reality. Each will understand that they are both the same: sinners. And although it's not the answer, it may be a start.
